Our History

Nydia Bay Guest House.
Mahoerangi is situated on the Nydia Track on the shores of Nydia Bay, Pelorus Sound, Marlborough Sounds, New Zealand.

This pilot enterprise was created to take advantage of the ever increasing flow of tourists coming to NZ shores to experience its natural treasures, by offering them a welcoming place to rest, stay and enjoy the environment of the Nydia Track.

The lodge was built entirely utilizing recycled timber and other materials. Electric power is supplied from solar generation backed up by limited bio fuel generation. Solar heating for indoor. Solar heated gardens. Native bush replanting to produce food for birds and animals of the forest.

The Lodge and surrounding forest at Nydia Bay is now enjoyed by thousands of visitors each year. All visitors take away something of the knowledge of the forest environment and how that relates to our involvement with nature.
