    Introducing our Trust

    Our Mission

Sustainable development is an organising principle for human life on a finite planet. It posits a desirable future state for human societies in which living conditions and resource-use meet human needs without undermining the sustainability of natural systems and the environment, so that future generations may also have their needs met.

Or in short, "development that meets the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

As humans we desire the planet to provide us with the air we breath, the water we drink, the food we eat and the room to develop our cultural needs. These are the four principles of Sustainable Development as set out by the World Commission on Environment and Development in 1987.

    .

The Mahoerangi Environmental Educational Trust has set out to develop principles to achieve these ends. Those principles are know by the Trust as "All profit to the environment" (APE)

The Trust has already developed a history of sustainable development with its Nydia Bay development and its involvement with the pest eradication program at Nydia Bay (check out www.nydiatrack.org.nz) In 2013 the Trust shifted its location the Whareatea Bay on D'Urville Island and has started to develop a base to further the aims of the trust of training for sustainable living.
